Michael SchreiberThis workbook differs from other introductions in three ways. It is language-based without concentrating on one specific language-pair, and it is concerned with selected essentials. The first chapter is devoted to the historical foundations and provides an outline of the history of translation. Chapter 2 discusses the theoretical foundations on which the academic engagement with translation and interpreting is based. The third chapter enlarges on the basics of the linguistic study of translation from a language-pair perspective. All chapters provide bibliographic references and contain exercises.
